Cheesy Potato Casserole

Ok...this was never a favorite of mine, so why am I posting it?  For some reason, Mom got it into her head that I loved this casserole and almost every time I came home she would say, "I made you Cheesey Potatoes."  She always seemed so happy that she was making something I enjoyed that I never had the heart to tell her I didn't like them.  So I guess I'm posting this for Mom, who probably got the most enjoyment out of life by doing things that made those she loved happy!

2 lb. bag cubed, frozen hash browns
3/4 cup melted butter or margerine, divided
1 tsp. salt
1 tsp. pepper
1 cup chopped onion
1 can creamed chicken soup
12 oz. container sour cream
2 cups grated cheddar cheese
2 cups crushed corn flakes
Paprika

Defrost hash browns.  Heat oven to 350º.  Mix with 1/2 cup melted butter.  Add salt, pepper, onion, soup, sour cream, and cheese.  Put into a 9 x 13 pan.  Top with corn flakes and remaining 1/4 cup butter.  Sprinkle with paprika.  Bake for 1 hour.
